Winter / Spring 2008

Under Construction!
"Your Retreat In The Mountains"

Our "Raise The Roof" Capital Campaign is underway

We appreciate all the folks who stay at South Carolina Home each year and we know there are many who would like to come up, but can’t work it out. We would like to urge folks to check out our web site for times you would like to come up. The availability page is updated frequently. Anyone is welcome to come when space is available. You do not have to be with a group... families and individuals are welcome!

South Carolina Home property is adjacent to the boundary of a Conservation Easement protecting 2450 acres of Montreat wilderness for the future!

The Mountain Retreat Association and the State of North Carolina have entered into an agreement with the Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy (SAHC) to create the Montreat Wilderness Conservation Easement. The area protected by this easement is contiguous to other protected forest and park lands, protects rare plant and animals, and maintains the magnificent views from Montreat and Black Mountain. This easement is a gift of clean water, biological diversity, and the preservation of rapidly vanishing mountain forests to all those who live and visit this area.

SC Home at Montreat Sunday

The Forth Sunday in August each year has been approved by the Five Presbyteries of South Carolina as a special time to remember SC Home at Montreat. August 27, 2006 will be the forth Sunday this year and hopefully many congregations will help us by participating in this special day. This will be the fifth year that many churches have participated and we hope many more will as this tradition continues. Take advantage of this time to learn about SC Home and the service it provides to the churches of South Carolina. Learn how your church can help support the continuing mission of this small but much loved institution. We are grateful for the support we receive each year from the five Presbyteries of South Carolina as well as the additional support that we receive from churches and individuals. It is through this support that we are able to keep our room fees down and attempt to maintain and improve the overall facility.
